The state of Pennsylvania, City of Philadelphia, and the William Penn Foundation have committed to raising the last $10 million needed for the the Penn’s Landing capping and civic spaces project.
Fellowship is among the highest honors the ASLA bestows on members and recognizes the contributions of these individuals to their profession and society at large based on their works, leadership and management, knowledge and service. $100 million pledged for Philadelphia's Penn's Landing interstate cap and waterfront park - Archpaper.comThe waterfront park at Penn’s Landing in Philly has edged closer to realization as Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) pledged $100 million to the project which has been on the books for a decade. The building has been designed by a collaborative team of Bjarke Ingels Group and Heatherwick Studio, with Hargreaves Jones Landscape Architecture responsible for the landscape design. The ground level will comprise of a series of pavilions wrapping around a public ‘green loop’ that cuts through the building. cafés and shops will line the artery, hoping to enliven the area and create a social and retail destination open to both Google employees and the public. The project, which is still in the early design stage, would encompass 11 acres between Chestnut and Walnut Streets. An existing park, which includes the Irish Memorial, occupies part of the space over I-95, but stops before Columbus Boulevard and is 30 feet above the level of Penn's Landing. Read more.
