JACOB PETERSEN

Principal

Over the past decade with Hargreaves Associates, Jacob has led many of the firms’ most notable and challenging public parks and urban landscapes; Discovery Green, a 12-acre ($52M) central park that has dramatically transformed the character and perception of downtown Houston (opened 2008), Caruthers Park, the 2-acre centerpiece of downtown Portland’s South Waterfront neighborhood (opened 2010); Parkview West, a 2-acre urban park immediately west of Chicago’s Navy Pier (opened 2007); Belo Garden, a 1.5 acre garden oasis in the heart of downtown Dallas (currently under construction); San Diego’s 17-acre CAC Waterfront Park, an urban park on downtown’s North Embarcadero (construction begins 2011); and the Concept Design for Oklahoma City’s Central Park, a 55-acre park envisioned as a major redevelopment catalyst and armature for downtown Oklahoma City’s next 30 years of growth toward its riverfront. Jacob recently completed the firms work on the Los Angeles State Historic Park, a 32-acre park urban park in downtown Los Angeles, park and open space master plans for downtown San Diego and downtown Dallas, and a Framework Plan for 320-acre Grant Park in Chicago, one of the most significant historic parks in North America. Jacob’s experience with private landscapes includes The Infinity, an iconic high-rise residential complex (with Arquitectonica) in downtown San Francisco, the high-profile Lane Field Development on San Diego’s downtown waterfront, and ResMed’s Corporate Headquarters in San Diego.
