The site and landscape design concept for the Stanford North Campus transforms the existing extroverted Excite.com corporate office complex into a more intimate and pedestrian scale university medical campus. The overall intent of the new landscape design is to transform the existing site character from a suburban office park, with corporate non-native plantings and impermeable paving materials, into a more sustainable landscape palette of native plantings and richly colored and textured permeable paving materials as one finds at Stanford University. The site and landscape will function as a setting for the interdisciplinary communities at the new Stanford North Campus. As such, the site and landscape design must blend the best of the past, the proven innovation of the present, and the needs of the future.
