UNIVERSITY OF CINCINNATI - LIBRARY SQUARE

CINCINNATI, OHIO

This plaza, associated with the Library and new Engineering Research Building (designed by Michael Graves), accommodates pedestrian connections across campus and provides a place for students to meet. The plaza is entirely on-structure, limiting planting to the perimeter. A grid of lights activates the space at night and creates the sense that the plaza is always inhabited. The nautilus paving pattern symbolizes the unfolding of knowledge that is central to the University.
