555 Mission Street
SAN FRANCISCO, CALIFORNIA
As a generous civic gesture the plaza is an extension of the building’s lobby and creates a new place that promotes daily activity and downtown culture. Through a series of sculptural and landscape elements that contribute to the project’s LEED certification, this ‘garden of light’ efficiently uses the compact space to form an enchanting mid-block pedestrian passage. The arrival plaza for the office tower designed by New York architects Kohn Pedersen Fox Associates is also populated with works by sculptors Ugo Rondinone and Jonathan Borofsky.
