Austin Federal Courthouse

Austin, Texas

Located in downtown Austin, the new federal courthouse will occupy a full city block directly west of Republic Square Park. The linear structure of the landscape in the 50 foot security setback is informed by the openings in the building facade. Alternating bands of crushed stone and concrete unit pavements, plantings and site elements respond to the fenestration of the building creating a diverse arrangement of spaces. To the east is a grand stairway that runs the length of the building and allows unobstructed views to the adjacent Republic Square. Large oak trees frame the entrance and provide shade at the entries and promontories. A jury garden is located to the south and features informal seating, colorful plantings, crushed stone paving within glass walls and it is shaded by oak trees.

The Austin Federal Courthouse is currently Under Construction.
