Fresh Kills Landfill to Landscape Competition

Our proposal sought to open Fresh Kills Parklands as soon as possible and with a high degree of efficacy and community support. This would be realized with the right combination of strategies and tactics in regard to landfill closure, and determinate and indeterminate vegetation and program strategies. Three overarching principles formed the basis for our proposal: operation, succession, and transformation. Each principle directly corresponds to site condition, phasing, ecological and social intent.
