Grant Park Framework Plan
Chicago, Illinois
The Framework Plan for Grant Park sets a future course for this 320 acre keystone of Chicago’s extensive lakefront park system. The three major components of the plan arose from the site analysis and public input process. First is the reconnection of the city to the park, the park to the lake, and the city to its waterfront. The second is the stitching together of independent park blocks into a single entity but with a restored focus on pedestrian scale. The third is the location of major program elements such as a proposed landform amphitheater, festival-event loop and sporting facilities in a way that will allow the park to effectively serve the evolving needs of adjacent neighborhoods, the city, and the region.
