Sherwood Forest Visitor Campus

Hargreaves Associates & MAKE Architects were commissioned to design the Sherwood Forest Visitor Campus in Nottinghamshire, UK after winning an international design competition that attracted over 60 entries. The Visitor Campus Landscape has been conceived as an extension of Sherwood Forest. It will provide a robust and stimulating destination and with careful structured use of native planting and natural materials will discretely accommodate large numbers of vehicles and users, and provide a framework for activities, exhibitions and events. The landscape will complement the building in its role as a hub for the arrival and dispersal of visitors into Sherwood Forest and will play a key role in defi ning the Visitor Centre experience from both a cultural and educational perspective. The emphasis is on providing fl exible outdoor space that can be adapted as the needs of the Visitor Centre evolve and in response to changing and predicted user needs.
