The Lijnbaan Gardens

The Lijnbaan gardens are public open spaces in the center of Rotterdam. The currently deteriorated condition of both gardens discourages most visitors and residents from lingering or inhabiting either space. Hargreaves Associates’ redesign simplifies both spaces by editing the existing components and increasing visibility and security. The redesign of both gardens seeks an intensity of modernity, an intensity of pedestrian usage, and an intensity of green-ness to enliven the gardens.
