MGM CITY CENTER - MANDARIN ORIENTAL HOTEL AND RESIDENCES

The new MGM Mandarin Oriental Hotel and Residences is the flagship hotel of MGM Mirage’s new $7.4 billion dollar City Center project. Situated to the north of the Monte Carlo Casino along the Las Vegas Strip, the 600-unit Mandarin Oriental will be the tallest residential hotel tower in Las Vegas. Serving residents, guests and retail visitors the Mandarin Oriental landscape delivers a rich and elegant landscape that draws inspiration from the both the Mandarin Oriental brand and the contemporary architectural styling of the tower designed by KPF Architects. Based on over 20 years of large-scale on-structure landscape experience, MGM invited Hargreaves Associates to join the City Center team for both full service landscape design as well as on-structure landscape planning for the adjoining properties. Working closely with project engineers and MGM Mirage executives, Hargreaves Associates identified key design criteria early in the planning process including target soil density and tree weights as well as material specifications and waterproofing strategies that allowed the client to place early steel orders and avoid costly escalation increases.
