NEW YORK CITY WORLD TRADE CENTER SITE COMPETITION

NEW YORK, NEW YORK

This winning design scheme, developed by the Studio Daniel Libeskind team with Hargreaves Associates as Landscape Architect, leaves a portion of the World Trade Center slurry wall exposed. At street level, two large public places were designed; the Park of Heroes and the Wedge of Light. The Wedge of Light allows that each year on September 11th between the hours of 8:46 am, when the first plane hit and 10:28 am, when the second tower collapsed, the sun will shine without shadow on the site.
