Hargreaves Associates worked on the Public Domain for Homebush Bay, site of the Sydney Olympics 2000 events, providing master plan, concept design, and landscape architecture services. The site program included stadiums, arenas, aquatic and athletic centers, exhibition halls, and major infrastructure such as rail and ferry terminals. These major buildings were grounded in a well defined urban landscape that gave the Public Domain its own distinct identity, an essential component of the master plan. The conceptual design of the Public Domain was developed in an intensive six week on-site workshop where the Hargreaves Associates team worked with Olympic authorities, architects, numerous specialists and project managers in a collaborative design process.
