On Crissy Field's 10th anniversary, the iconic San francisco landmark by a total 10 million visitors to date... 1 million visitors per year! Here are some other facts about Crissy Field:

- Crissy Field began as a marsh and seasonal home of Ohlone Indians, and later hosted Spanish and Mexican ships, a Grand Prix raceway, an historic army airfield, and a U.S. Coast Guard station.

- Of the TOTAL project costs $34.4 million was raised by the community and 92% of the donations were $100 or less.





- 3,000 volunteers worked on the restoration planting of the Crissy Field dunes from 1998 - 2001.

- 100,000 native plants planted, of 73 native species.

- 70 acres of asphalt were removed.





- 87,000 tons of hazardous material removed.

- 230,000 cubic yards of soil excavated to create tidal marsh.

- Dedication was May 6, 2001, attended by 75,000 people.
