The General Motors Global Headquarters Riverfront Plaza and Promenade Concept Plan provides an overall framework for the prominent GM Riverfront. The concept addresses the Renaissance Center as an urban landmark and corporate icon by placement and orientation of plazas, promontories and promenades. The overall plan strives to achieve an authenticity rooted in the nature of the Riverfront’s heritage, while transforming the plaza and promenade into a lively public gathering place and source of corporate and civic pride. The plaza and promenade will create an attractive setting for General Motors Global Headquarters, serve as a catalyst for redeveloping the River East District and provide a vital link in the chain of Riverfront open spaces, parks and public amenities. When complete, the plaza will accommodate crowds of 2,000-3,000.
