The Stitch mends the urban fabric of central Atlanta that was severed by the construction of the Downtown Connector Freeway in the 1960’s. This transformative project creates 17 acres of new green space that caps over the freeway and reclaims this once vibrant neighborhood while enhancing access to open space, community resources, affordable housing, mixed-use developments, and transportation.
Phase One is the vibrant Town Square and the multi-use heart of the park, Phases Two and Three add performance spaces and neighborhood amenities. With this project the urban core of the city will join the adjacent neighborhoods in living up to the slogan: Atlanta: City in a Forest.
