Downtown Day, an all-day celebration of the people, places and progress shaping the heart of Atlanta, unveiled the next steps for Phase 1 of The Stitch, showcasing updated design renderings and a virtual tour of the new park. The Stitch is a bold urban design and infrastructure initiative that will bridge over the Downtown Connector (I-75/85), reconnecting Atlanta’s urban fabric and transforming underutilized space into a vibrant 16.6-acre signature park.
Stitch Park Phase 1 creates a 4-acre central park that is the project’s “Town Square” — the urban core and social heart of The Stitch. Complimented by 1.6 acres of adjacent street improvements, this civic landscape is designed for active and dynamic programming, while offering a green and shaded retreat by adding over 250 new trees to Atlanta’s urban forest.
