Destination Bayfront, a 34 acre waterfront park in Corpus Christi, Texas, was spearheaded by local civic leaders and citizens, who have worked for years to transform the City-owned vacant land along Shoreline Boulevard into a public waterfront attraction. The Hargreaves Associates led team – including Lake|Flato Architects, national specialists and local expertise – created a plan that will re-engage the city’s coastal edge, provide a destination for visitors and the community, bolster downtown’s storm resiliency, and catalyze economic and social change. The park will support a wide range of activities and events, and includes a 3000’ long waterfront promenade with shade structures, café and park-oriented retail spaces, a central Great Lawn / festival space, a family gathering area, explorational play, Veterans’ Memorial park, and a 10 acre beach.
