Taylor Yard | Paseo del Rio Project
Los Angeles, CA

The Taylor Yard project reimagines a former railyard along the Los Angeles River as a regional-scale ecosystem restoration and public amenity.

Phase one of 42-acre Taylor Yard site establishes the Gateway Pavilion as a central gathering space with restrooms, shade structures, and event areas. The 1.5-mile Paseo Walkway extends the Los Angeles River Walkway with scenic pathways, rest areas, and educational spaces alongside riparian habitats and specialized birdhouses. At the project’s heart, the Water Quality Feature diverts stormwater through bioswales that support intermittent wetland plant communities, treating water on-site while creating wildlife habitat. Nature trails, an overlook, and a bridge guides visitors through this habitat zone. The historic Railyard Turntable will be preserved for flexible programming, adjacent to a gently sloped meadow offering panoramic views of the Los Angeles hills.
