Jamaica Bay Vision Plan
Brooklyn/Queens, NY
Hargreaves Associates worked with the National Park Service and the New York City Parks Department to generate a vision plan for the 10,000 acres they jointly own on New York harbor’s Jamaica Bay.

This joint initiative was in recognition of the momentous opportunity for the combined resources of each to be re-imagined as a cohesive place as a destination for regional, national and international visitors alike who seek it’s wild beauty, historic resources and recreational opportunities, juxtaposed with remnants of our nation’s military and industrial history. The vision plan addressed the actions critical to the bay’s ecological recovery after generations of fill, dumping, water pollution and resource depletion as well as the effects of rising sea level. The plan frames guidelines for the creation of unique and diverse places for respite and recreation, educational opportunities and community outreach within the context of a growing and diverse urban environment.
