Hargreaves Associates designed a series of connected open spaces that occupy various levels of the residential and mixed use development in Washington, D.C., with architects Gary Handel Associates and developers Millennium Partners.  Cascading from the 5th to ground level, the courtyards follow the course of the fountain system and are built entirely on structure. Beginning on the 5th level in runnels set below the paving, the water spills over a stepped cascade to the moat and island on the 4th level, before plunging down a waterfall to the bamboo grove on the ground level. The path that connects the levels moves up from a dense grove of trees on the ground level to greater openness as it ascends.
