Civic Garden
Dallas, TX

As one of the priority downtown parks proposed by Hargreaves Associates in the Dallas Downtown Parks Masterplan, Civic Garden plays an important role in realizing the Masterplan’s goal of transforming the character, perception, and livability of downtown Dallas.

The design for this 1.7-acre park provides much-needed passive park space for downtown employees, visitors, and the growing number of downtown residents. Civic Garden is conceived as a rich and diverse respite from the urban environment, offering perennial gardens and shaded groves that take their cue from the regional Texas landscape, plaza spaces for casual gatherings and informal performances, and an interactive fountain that creates playful visual interest and activity in the heart of the park while mitigating summer heat. Other features include a 10’ high hill that provides topographical relief and views over the central fountain plaza, and a shaded garden grove with movable tables and chairs.
