Carpenter Park
Dallas, TX

Carpenter Park expands and transforms a decades old park – once on the east edge of downtown and now at the seam of downtown and the vibrant Deep Ellum neighborhood.

The park is the largest of the signature parks envisioned in the firm’s master plan for downtown parks and includes Portal Park Slice by the artist Robert Irwin, which extends through the hill that frames the park’s north edge and continues under the freeway where a pavilion, food truck plaza, basketball court and dog park will animate the shady space – making an amenity out of urban infrastructure.  A meandering “Granite Walk” and hedge of diverse varieties of shrubs weaves through the park and its gardens arriving at the entry plaza with its interactive fountain and dramatic jet of water that forms a gateway to downtown.
