The Juilliard School Tianjin, with Diller Scofidio + Renfro, is a dynamic cultural and social hub that redefines the relationship between music education, performance, and public space. Set within a greenway along the Yujiapu Financial District river promenade as master planned by Hargreaves Jones with SOM, and opposite Hargreaves Jones’ Ribbon Park, the complex is designed to welcome the public into the creative process and the performance of music.

The building operates as an extension of the surrounding public park and is accessible year-round as a gathering place and event platform for students, faculty, visitors, and neighbors. The public park creates spaces that orient to the outdoor plaza and seating terraces that will host both civic and school activities, as well as spaces that orient to the river and connect to the linear bikeway and pedestrian river promenades.
